Google Home Goes Free with Spotify Support
Google Home users who have been holding out on Spotify Premium can now access free Spotify accounts directly through their device.
This means that anyone with a Google Home smart speaker can link their free Spotify account and start playing music without needing to upgrade to the premium version.
To do this, users simply need to open the Google Home app, tap the 'music' button, select their preferred music service (in this case, Spotify), and then click 'link' to sign in to their account.
Once linked, users can ask Google to play specific songs or artists, but they will hear songs inspired by their request rather than the exact track. If they want more control over what's playing, they can choose to use a paid music subscription service like Spotify Premium, Google Play Music Premium, or YouTube Red.
This move is likely to be welcomed by users who want access to Spotify's vast music library without paying extra for premium features.
