Google Home Lets AI Agents Control Smart Devices with Voice Commands
Google Home has rolled out support for Model Context Protocol (MCP) on its platform, allowing users to control their smart home devices using AI agents. This new integration means that users can now interact with their devices using various MCP-supporting tools, including Google Antigravity, Claude, Hermes, OpenClaw, and others.
The AI agents can access information about all devices in the Google Home ecosystem, including Nest doorbells, security cameras, thermostats, and smart bulbs. Users can ask their AI agents questions like when their kids returned from school, how long the lights were left on, or how many loads of laundry were done in a week.
The agents can also summarize security camera feeds and highlight important clips. If an agent is working on a task, users will receive an audio message via their speaker once it's completed.
