Google Home Struggles Persist as Routine and Smart Light Issues Remain Unresolved
Google Home users have been experiencing issues with routines and smart lights in recent times. One problem involves alarm-linked Google Assistant routines in the Google Clock app, where tapping 'Add Google Assistant Routine' or trying to edit an existing alarm routine can dump users into Google Assistant settings instead of the routine editor. Others report previously configured routines no longer firing after dismissing an alarm.
The behavior is inconsistent, with some users finding that uninstalling recent Google app updates restored the feature temporarily. However, this workaround did not help everyone, leaving the exact trigger unclear. Google Nest support has acknowledged the issue and confirmed that their team is actively working on a fix.
An unrelated problem involves voice control of lights with non-English names, which should be resolved within 24 to 48 hours according to Google. The company has also asked an affected timer user to submit a voice feedback report in connection with this issue.
