Google Home Update Enhances Gemini Reliability and App Features
Google Home has rolled out a new update for Gemini, enhancing its voice command reliability and expanding functionality. The update focuses on improving Gemini's ability to understand and respond to user requests more accurately, particularly in noisy environments. The Find My Phone feature has also been refined, although specific details about these improvements were not disclosed.
Other notable updates include better language recognition for multilingual households and fixes for conversation follow-ups, addressing issues where Gemini would previously get stuck and respond with 'I didn’t understand.' Additionally, the Google Home app has seen enhancements, such as resolving a bug where smart lights would not turn off when their brightness was set to 0%.
Video doorbell and security camera tiles in the app now display filled icons when devices are online, with accented colors to indicate active status. The app also includes improved gesture controls for favorites tiles. These updates reflect Google's ongoing efforts to refine Gemini for Home, which replaced Google Assistant in October 2025.
