A recent experience with a broken Nest Thermostat has left the author surprised and impressed by Google's customer service. The Nest Thermostat 3rd Gen, which is over seven years old, had stopped working due to a faulty Heat Link, a device that controls the boiler. Despite being out of warranty, Google authorized the repair and provided a free replacement.

The process began with an online chat through the Google Home and Nest Help website, where the author explained the issue and was informed that a new Heat Link would be provided at no cost. A few days later, an engineer arrived to confirm the fault and arrange for the replacement.

What's remarkable about this experience is that it highlights Google's willingness to support even older products, which may have been written off as obsolete or warranty-expired. The author notes that this level of service is a welcome change from their previous experiences with Nest.
