Google Introduces Premium Laptops with Integrated Android and AI

Google has launched its new premium laptop category, Googlebook, which starts at $899. The laptops will be available in the US on October 4 and other countries including Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia on October 5.

The Googlebook platform combines Android technology with desktop foundations developed through ChromeOS, allowing users to transfer settings, saved passwords, Wi-Fi networks, and messages from their Android phone after signing into the laptop.

Google has partnered with several PC manufacturers including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to produce the initial lineup of Googlebook models. Each model will use premium materials such as aluminum, magnesium alloy, or carbon fiber, and will include features like touchscreens with up to 2.8K OLED resolution, haptic glass trackpads, and backlit keyboards.

Google has also integrated its Gemini AI technology into the laptops, allowing users to access a range of features including a dedicated neural processing unit capable of more than 45 TOPS, local AI computing capacity for on-device features, and up to 14 hours of battery life depending on the system and usage.
