Google Invests $10 Million in Nevada Energy Efficiency Efforts

Google has announced a $10 million investment in Nevada's energy efficiency and affordability efforts. The company will allocate half of this amount, or $5 million, to the Nevada Clean Energy Fund's Residential Energy Upgrade Program. This program provides financing for home upgrades such as efficient heating and cooling systems and weatherization. The remaining $5 million will be distributed later this year with more details to come.

The funding aims to address a gap in existing assistance programs for households that face financial barriers or health and safety issues in their homes. Google's investment is intended to support new weatherization and energy efficiency improvements in the Reno-Sparks area near its Storey County facility and in Clark County near its Henderson facility.

The company claims that similar Energy Impact Fund efforts in other states have helped households save between $545 and $729 a year on energy bills. The Nevada program is expected to provide upgrades at no cost to Nevada residents, lowering their monthly energy bills while creating healthier, safer homes.
