Google Invests $10 Million in Nevada's Energy Innovation
Google has invested $10 million in Nevada's energy innovation and affordability through its Energy Impact Fund (EIF).
The funding will support the Residential Energy Upgrade Program (RE-UP), run by the Nevada Clean Energy Fund (NCEF), with $5 million provided immediately.
Nevada households face critical health and safety gaps in their homes, making them ineligible for participation in available programs. The EIF aims to address this issue by providing affordable financing for home upgrades such as efficient heating systems, cooling systems, and weatherization measures.
The program's funds will support new home weatherization efforts and energy efficiency improvements near Google's data centers in Reno-Sparks and Henderson. To date, Google's Energy Impact Funds have helped households save between $545 and $729 annually on energy bills in other states.
