Google Invests Record €13 Billion in Finnish AI Infrastructure
Google has announced a record €13 billion investment in Finland's AI infrastructure. The tech giant will build three new data centres and expand an existing site in the country, supporting its growing demand for AI services.
The deal also includes a 22-year contract with Finnish utility Fortum to buy up to half of the electricity produced by the Loviisa nuclear power plant. This pact provides long-term financial certainty for the plant, which currently generates about 10% of Finland's electricity.
Google said the package will support more than 37,000 jobs during construction and boost Finland's GDP by €3.6 billion a year. The investments also cover 'clean energy projects, and dedicated nature and community funds to support local biodiversity, education, research, and workforce development.'
