Google Laptops Built for Android Owners: Seamless Integration
Google's new line of laptops, dubbed 'Googlebooks', are designed to work seamlessly with Android phones. These devices aim to bring the same level of integration as the MacBook does for iPhone owners.
The Googlebook OS is built on Android's codebase but has a ChromeOS-inspired interface. The layout mostly resembles a Chromebook, but with details drawn from Android, specifically the Material 3 Expressive design language found in Pixel phones.
Connecting a Googlebook to an Android phone allows for shared notifications and file sharing between devices. Users can also start using an app on their phone and pick it up on their laptop via Continue On feature.
The integration requires a phone running Android 17, which is currently available on most Pixels and some Samsung flagships. However, Google promises that the core set of features will work even if the phone software gets behind.
