Google Lets Users Describe Exact Content Preferences in Discover Feed
Google has rolled out several updates to personalize its Discover feed, giving users more control over what they see.
The changes include a new chat interface that allows users to describe exactly what they want to see in their Discover feed using natural language. For example, a user might say 'Show me long-form content and deep dives about smart home tech, but skip the product news and press releases.'
Google's Discover page is algorithm-based, taking into account the pages you visit, terms you search, and even cross-ecosystem activity like videos watched on YouTube. However, until now, there have been limited options for customizing your Discover feed.
The new feature will allow users to tap any three-dot menu in their feed and describe what they want to see or skip. Google says that the feed will adjust immediately and remember the user's requests. This feature is arriving 'in the coming days' on the Google app.
