Google Lets Users Personalize News Feeds with Natural-Language Prompts
Google is expanding its content personalization features across various platforms, including Google Search, the Google Discover feed in the Google mobile app, and Google News.
The company announced that users will soon be able to specify which news they want to see using a natural-language prompt. This feature allows users to tap on any three-dot menu in their feed to tell Google what topics or links they want to see more (or less) of. The feed will adjust accordingly and remember the user's requests.
In addition, users can refine their Discover feed at any time using a conversational interface. Google News app on Android is also getting an update with customizable daily audio briefings that allow users to pick topics related to their interests.
A new 'Preferred Sources' button is being introduced for publishers to embed on their pages, enabling readers to easily add websites as one of their favorite sources. These preferred sources will appear more prominently in Google News and Discover feeds, as well as AI Overviews and AI Mode in Google's search results page.
