Google Lifts Visible Watermark Restriction for AI-Generated Content
Google has announced that users will be able to disable visible watermarks on AI-generated content such as images, videos, and songs. However, this feature will come with a catch: the invisible SynthID watermarks and metadata will still remain for transparency purposes. The ability to toggle watermarks on or off in settings is expected to strike a balance between creative freedom and the need to identify AI-generated media.
This change will be available soon in Google's Gemini models and video editor Flow, with Search support coming later. Additionally, Google has introduced an open-source library called Credentio for developers to embed validation in their apps.
