Google has announced that it will make visible watermarks for AI-generated images, videos, and songs optional. This change is part of Google's effort to balance creative control with safety and transparency.

The company's vice president for Gemini, Josh Woodward, stated in a post on X that the decision reflects their approach to using AI-generated content in creative and professional work while still identifying it.

The feature will be available initially in Gemini and Google's video editor Flow, with support for Search coming soon. Users can go to Settings > Media Watermark to turn the visible watermark on or off.
