Google Maps Adds Visual Indicators for Upcoming Intersections on Android Auto

Google has rolled out an update to its Android Auto navigation system that provides drivers with more visual cues about upcoming intersections.

The update, which was observed by 9to5Google earlier this week and is now consistently showing up on phones directly as well as in the car display, highlights whether a driver will encounter a traffic light or stop sign at their next turn.

This new feature builds upon Google Maps' existing functionality of showing traffic lights and stop signs along a route, but it's a significant improvement because it makes this information more relevant to the driver's actual route.

When approaching an intersection, drivers will see not only the name of the street at their next turn but also a visual indicator of whether they can expect to encounter a traffic light or stop sign. This is particularly useful for drivers navigating unfamiliar areas.
