Google Maps' Fuel-Saving Secret: A Game-Changer for Drivers
Google Maps has become an essential tool for navigation, but many users are unaware of its hidden features that can save them money on fuel costs. For Android user Jade Bryan, using Google Maps as is was not enough to optimize his driving routes. He discovered that the fastest route is not always the most fuel-efficient one.
Bryan regularly drives an hour to a nearby city and assumed taking the highway would save him gas. However, he found out that Google's fuel-efficient routing feature, which looks beyond distance and factors in traffic flow, elevation gains, and fewer stops, can provide more accurate estimates.
To access this feature, users need to enable 'Prefer fuel-efficient routes' in their Google Maps settings. This will label the most efficient route with a green leaf icon, showing how much fuel is saved per trip.
