Google Maps Its Way into Gemini App on Mobile Devices
Google has expanded its Gemini app with a new 'Map' tool, available exclusively on mobile devices. This feature allows users to help with location-based prompts and can be accessed at the end of the carousel in the Gemini app.
The Map tool displays your current location along with a circular focus area on a live map. Users can zoom in and out as needed and search for specific locations using the magnifying glass in the top right corner. The 'Explore this area' button at the bottom allows users to add 'Map Area' to their prompts, enabling them to write location-focused queries.
Additionally, Google is introducing changes to the Gemini app's interface by replacing the forward slash with the @ symbol. This change enables users to access skills and connectors from a single place. However, this update has not been widely rolled out yet.
