Google Maps Now Shows Lake America as per Trump's Executive Order

Google has updated its mapping service to reflect President Donald Trump's executive order renaming Lake Ontario to 'Lake America' for US users. The change follows an escalating trade war with Canada, which Trump aimed to recognize through the name change.

The update is in line with Google's policy of reflecting official government sources on its maps. However, users outside the US will see both names: 'Lake America' and 'Lake Ontario', as it has been known for over 400 years.

MapQuest, a competing mapping service, opposed the name change and will continue to identify the lake as Lake Ontario.
