Google Maps Reflects Trump's Renaming of Lake Ontario Amid US-Canada Trade Tensions
Google has updated its maps to reflect President Donald Trump's executive order changing Lake Ontario to Lake America amid the trade war between the United States and Canada.
The decision follows an update made by the U.S. Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) to formally reflect the proclamation signed by Mr. Trump directing the renaming of the lake located between the border of the United States and Canada.
According to Google, people using Maps in the U.S. will now see 'Lake America' instead of Lake Ontario, while those in Canada will continue to see 'Lake Ontario', and users outside of both countries will see both names.
