Google Maps Reveals Devastating Scale of Gaza Destruction
Google Maps has updated its satellite imagery of the Gaza Strip, providing a glimpse into the scale of destruction caused by the ongoing conflict. The new images, captured in January and February 2026, reveal widespread devastation across different parts of the enclave.
The area around Al-Shifa Hospital has been heavily altered, while entire neighborhoods in Rafah and Khan Younis have been reduced to rubble. Large tent camps have appeared on the remaining open ground, a testament to the displacement of thousands of people.
According to UNOSAT's latest assessment, 201,290 structures in the Gaza Strip have been damaged, about 82% of all buildings. Of these, 134,422 were destroyed.
