Google Maps Sends Tourists to Wrong Blue Mountains Address

Google Maps has been leading tourists to a surprising destination in Australia - not the breathtaking Blue Mountains, but a quiet suburban cul-de-sac called Dargan. The error had been causing hundreds of visitors to punch 'Blue Mountains' into their location search and end up 30 minutes away from the actual landmark.

Residents of Dargan grew tired of accidental visitors and put up a sign reading: 'BLUE MOUNTAINS is not here (Google Maps is wrong) You need to go to KATOOMBA or BLACKHEATH'. Google corrected the error after being alerted by Fairfax, and searches for 'Blue Mountains' will now direct users to the Blue Mountains National Park.

Gustaf Brusewitz, spokesperson for Google Australia, acknowledged that while Google Maps uses a variety of data sources, including third-party providers, public sources, and user contributions, occasional inaccuracies can still occur. He apologized for any inconvenience caused to local residents and visitors.
