Google Maps Shortcuts Simplify Navigation

Tom, a tech journalist, recently discovered a feature in Google Maps that has simplified his navigation routine. He used to have to go through multiple steps to find directions, but now he uses home screen shortcuts to access the app directly.

The shortcut allows him to bypass the usual process of finding the app's folder, opening it, and then searching for a location. This feature has greatly reduced the amount of time Tom spends in the app.

Google Maps launched in February 2005 as a desktop web application, and since then it has grown to include features like Street View, which provides 360-degree ground-level photography.
