Google is celebrating its 28th birthday on September 27 with a nostalgic Doodle that takes users back to the company's early days. The search giant has evolved significantly since its inception in 1998, when it was just a small web search company. Over time, Google expanded into various areas, including software, video, maps, and artificial intelligence.
The company was officially incorporated as Google Inc. on September 4, 1998, but its beginnings can be traced back to August of the same year. Sun Microsystems co-founder Andy Bechtolsheim wrote a $100,000 cheque to founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, which helped formalise the creation of the company.
Google's birthday date has changed over the years, with September 27 becoming its regular birthday date from 2006. The company has not provided a definitive explanation for why this date was selected.
