Google Meet Brings AI-Powered Note-Taking to Physical Meetings

Google has rolled out an update for Google Meet that brings its AI-powered note-taking features into physical conference rooms. The new feature allows users to record, transcribe, and summarize in-person meetings, making it easier to capture key discussion topics, action items, and a full verbatim transcript.

The feature uses the Gemini AI to process audio from the meeting, generating a clean Google Doc within minutes of hitting stop. This document automatically saves to a dedicated folder in your Google Drive, and a direct link is emailed to participants.

Currently, the tool supports eight languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese. However, only one language can be used per session. The feature requires a Google AI Pro or AI Ultra subscription for individual accounts, with enterprise users gaining access through Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Frontline Plus, and AI Pro for Education plans.

Android users have access to the feature first, followed closely by web users, with the iOS app update expected to arrive by the end of August. Google recommends using the tool for sessions running at least 15 minutes to give the AI enough conversational context.
