Google Meet Takes Notes at In-Person Meetings Too

Google Meet has expanded its AI-powered note-taking feature to in-person meetings. The 'Take notes for me' feature, previously limited to virtual calls, now allows users to take notes during face-to-face conversations using their phone or computer. This capability is available on Android, web, and iOS platforms.

To use the feature, users need to have either Google AI Pro or AI Ultra, depending on whether they are a consumer or Workspace user. The tool supports eight languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, but only one language at a time per session.

The notes generated during the meeting will be stored in a dedicated 'Google Meet' folder in Drive, with a link sent by email. This mirrors the structure used for virtual calls, giving in-person sessions similar documentation. The feature can be paused and resumed at any time, but users are advised to use it for calls lasting at least 15 minutes.

Not everyone has access to this feature yet, as the consumer must have either Google AI Pro or AI Ultra, whereas the Workspace user must have either Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Frontline Plus, or Google AI Pro for Education. This means that Google Meet will be competing against transcription services that have made business out of solving the same problem.
