Oluwaniyi Raji, a tech content specialist, has been using Google Meet's AI-powered Take Notes for Me feature to manage discussions during in-person meetings. The feature was previously limited to video calls but was updated in August 2026 to support in-person meetings.
Raji uses the feature by opening the Google Meet app, tapping Take notes, and then starting the note-taking session with a single button. Gemini, the AI-powered assistant, listens until the session is stopped, capturing a summary, action items, and a full transcript of the meeting.
The feature sends a Google Docs file to Raji's email, which includes the action items extracted from the transcript. This saves him time from manually sorting and sharing notes after meetings.
Raji uses this feature in almost every meeting since its release, praising its accuracy and convenience compared to other note-taking apps. However, he notes that participants may not be aware of Gemini's presence, so it's essential to inform them at the start of each meeting.
