Google Messages Gets Major Update with Hidden Gestures
Google has rolled out an update for its Messages app on Android that changes how users interact with individual messages. The new gestures and shortcuts aim to increase efficiency in communication, but some may find it challenging to adapt.
The long-press gesture now reveals a pop-up menu filled with possibilities, including regular and custom photo-based reactions, as well as various available actions. Users can select multiple messages for copying, forwarding, or deleting using the 'Select more' option, and edit recent messages in threads where editing is supported.
Other gestures include swiping to the right on a message to reply directly to that specific text, revealing the timestamp when a message was received by swiping left, and tapping on a sent message to see status markers for delivery and reading. Additionally, users can tap profile pictures or group chat names for more information and actions.
