Google Messages Launches Official Chat Thread for New Features

Google Messages is rolling out an official chat thread to showcase its new features and improvements. The thread, which appears as a pop-up on the main screen, provides users with information about RCS (Rich Communication Services) for Business, including improved picture and video quality.

The thread also includes a chatbot that users can interact with to get summaries of other new features. This interactive element is similar to what WhatsApp and Telegram offer for alerting users to new features, but Google's version seems more geared towards onboarding new users.

Users who continue to prompt the chat for more features will be shown a breakdown of some of the recent additions to Google Messages, including Selfie GIFs (2024), Schedule Send (2021), and Real-time location sharing (2026).
