Google Messages' Limitations Filled by Android Apps

Google Messages is a solid SMS app, but it has its limitations. When you want more features and customization options, other apps step in to fill the gaps.

Textra SMS is one such alternative that offers a wide range of features, including over 180 color themes, app icon tint options, and various bubble shapes and styles. It also allows for custom notifications, scheduling messages, and a delay feature to prevent accidental sends.

BuzzKill Notification Manager takes a different approach by integrating with Android's notification system to provide more control over notifications. It can silence follow-up texts from the same person, set up custom alerts based on specific contacts or keywords, and even send automatic replies when a message sits unread for too long.
