Google Messages Overhaul Brings Revolutionary Search Features
Google Messages is preparing one of its biggest updates to date, according to a recent APK teardown from Android Authority. The overhaul includes a revamped search experience that goes beyond current filters and makes it easier to find messages, photos, videos, links, and places shared across conversations.
The redesigned Search feature will show previews of content from across your conversations, including rows for recently shared images, videos, links, and places. This allows users to access relevant content without having to type anything.
Moreover, Google is making it easier to search inside a specific conversation by showing matching conversations with a dedicated search button. Tapping this opens a new 'Search in chat with...' page where users can look through text and shared content from that particular conversation.
The biggest improvement could be how Messages handles regular text searches. The upcoming update appears to list individual matching messages separately, allowing users to choose the exact message they want without having to open the entire conversation.
