Google Messages Spam: How to Turn Off Unwanted Texts
Google's Messages app has been sending spammy texts to some users, including the author of this article. The messages are from 'Google Messages' and feature a conversation with pre-made replies that can't be edited or sent back to Google.
The conversations look like regular text threads, but they're actually just notifications about new app features. For example, one message reminded the author that photos and videos sent via RCS (Rich Communication Services) are higher quality than standard SMS messages.
Fortunately, users can easily unsubscribe from these texts by tapping 'No thanks' on a pop-up notification or opening the conversation and selecting 'Unsubscribe'. To fully remove the conversations from their inbox, users will need to tap the three dots in the upper-right corner of the screen, select 'Trash', and then confirm they want to move the conversation to trash.
The author notes that while these texts may not be the most egregious thing Google has ever done, they're still unwanted spam that can clutter up a user's Messages inbox. By unsubscribing from these notifications, users can keep their inboxes clean and avoid unnecessary distractions.
