Google Messages Still Lacking Essential Features After Samsung Support Ends
Pankil Shah, a long-time Windows and Android user, recently switched from Samsung Messages to Google Messages after support for the former officially ended. While Google Messages has its advantages, particularly with RCS support, Shah feels it's missing some essential features that made Samsung Messages convenient.
One feature he sorely misses is the ability to create folders for organizing chats into relevant categories. This feature helped keep his inbox clutter-free and allowed him to quickly locate important messages amidst promotional texts and spam. Google Messages lacks this functionality, with Shah suggesting that it's high time for Google to borrow this feature from Samsung Messages.
Another feature Shah wishes was incorporated is the auto-delete option for old texts. Samsung Messages had a setting that automatically deleted messages after reaching 1000 texts or 100 multimedia messages, keeping the inbox organized and clutter-free. In contrast, Google Messages relies on manual cleaning, which can be time-consuming.
Shah also misses the in-app translation feature in Samsung Messages, which allowed him to easily communicate with people who spoke different languages. This feature was particularly useful when traveling abroad or communicating with individuals who didn't speak English fluently.
Lastly, Shah suggests that Google Messages' search tool could be improved by showing entire messages instead of just snippets. This would make it easier for users to find the message they're looking for without having to tap through multiple results.
