Google Messages Suffers Another Chat Thread Bug
Google's Messages app is struggling with another issue, this time related to chat threads. The bug causes existing group chats to split into separate threads with the same participants, resulting in multiple versions of the same conversation.
Affected users may end up with seven or more separate chats involving the same people, and some have reported losing continuity of their chat history.
Similar reports suggest that individual RCS (Rich Communication Services) conversations are also splitting into multiple threads, making it difficult to understand what Messages is doing.
Google has acknowledged the issue and is actively investigating it. The company has asked users to submit feedback through the Messages app with the hashtag #splittingthreads to help engineers identify the problem.
