Google Phone App Brings Back Contacts Tab
The Google Phone app has undergone a change in its navigation layout, with the Contacts tab being readded as a bottom bar tab. This move reverses the decision made last year to simplify the app's navigation, which removed the Contacts tab and placed it in the navigation drawer instead.
As part of the August 2025 update, the Phone by Google app reduced its main navigation to three tabs: Home, Keypad, and Voicemail. The Contacts tab was moved to the navigation drawer, accessible through a shortcut or as part of the Favorites carousel at the top of the main feed.
However, with this latest change, the Contacts tab is now available on the bottom bar between Home and Keypad, while the navigation drawer shortcut has been removed. This decision likely reflects how users primarily interact with the dialer application for contact access.
