Google Photos Tests Major Editing and Layout Overhauls

Google Photos is testing new features that could make the app more flexible and easier to personalize. According to an APK teardown, Google is working on improvements to both photo-editing tools and the home feed layout.

The Markup tools are getting a significant upgrade. Users will soon be able to change the brush size with a slider, making it easier to draw precise annotations or highlight larger areas. The number of available colors is also increasing from seven to over 25.

The Text tool could receive a similar upgrade, with additional colors, text alignment options, and new font styles being tested. This includes 14 new fonts, ranging from simple styles to more decorative choices.

Google is also experimenting with a cleaner-looking home feed. In the Day and Month layouts, Google Photos can automatically enlarge certain photos and videos to highlight notable moments. A new Feature photos toggle could give users the option to turn this behavior off.
