Google Pixel 10a Price Hiked to $599 Amid Rising Memory Costs
Google has increased the price of its Pixel 10a smartphone by $100 to $599, just seven months after launching it at $499. The price hike affects both the 128GB and 256GB models, with the latter now costing a whopping $699.
The reason for the price increase is attributed to rising memory costs, which have reportedly jumped from $2.80 per gigabyte to $12, according to Google's own vice president, Shakil Barkat. This significant surge in memory prices has affected not only Google but also other tech giants like Apple and Samsung, who have also revised their pricing strategies.
The Pixel 10a's Tensor G4 chip is two generations behind the silicon used in the latest Pixel 11 model, which was launched at $899. This raises questions about the value proposition of the Pixel 10a, especially considering its higher price tag compared to newer models.
