Google Pixel 11 Pro XL: A Step Forward in Smartphone Photography
The latest smartphone from Google is the Pixel 11 Pro XL, which boasts a new camera bar design and a more efficient main camera sensor. The phone's hardware may not be drastically different from its predecessor, but it still offers plenty of customization options for photographers who want to get hands-on.
One notable improvement in the Pixel 11 Pro XL is the telephoto camera, which features a larger Type 1/1.95 sensor and provides better low-light image quality and overall detail reproduction. The phone can also push beyond a digital 30x zoom equivalent, but the image quality is noticeably cropped.
Google has also made changes to the software this time around, introducing Magic Capture mode, which allows users to record a memory or moment in video and then lets the phone pick out ideal images to document the event as stills. This feature is particularly useful for casual users who don't want to split their attention between capturing video and taking photos.
Another notable change is the removal of the 'Reimagine' function, which allowed users to access generative imagery with one button press. Instead, any generative AI functions are now done via the Gemini assistant using Nano Banana, a separate interface.
