Google Pixel 11 Pro XL Fails to Deliver on Fast Wired Charging Promises

The Google Pixel 11 Pro XL has a complicated relationship with fast wired charging. In theory, it should be able to hit its 45W marketing claim, but in practice, it's a different story. The phone can reach a peak of 40.7W for about the first 9 minutes using the Google Pixel Flex 67W charger, which is a significant improvement over previous generations.

However, this requires a specific type of USB-C charger that supports 21V at 2A via the USB Power Delivery PPS protocol. Many existing chargers are limited to 11V under this protocol, so users need a newer, higher-power PPS plug for optimal charging.

The phone's total charge time is still on the slow side for a 45W handset, taking about 69 minutes to reach 100% battery capacity. The Extreme Charging feature promises to deliver faster charging speeds, but it's currently unavailable out of the box and only activates at random after several days of use.

Google claims that Extreme Charging can charge the phone to 75% in just 30 minutes, but this remains untested due to the feature's inconsistent behavior.
