Software Stocks Revive as AI Integration Drives Growth
Salesforce's recent earnings and guidance have shaken up the market, suggesting that AI may not replace software, but rather enhance its value. The company's stock jumped 22.6% after a blowout earnings report, with Salesforce also raising full-year FY27 revenue guidance to $46.1-46.4 billion.
The news has sparked hope for software companies, which have been discounted on fears that AI would eventually bypass their interfaces and weaken the economics of traditional SaaS. However, Salesforce's latest partnership with Anthropic allows it to deliver a new product: Claudeforce, which puts Claude's reasoning on top of Salesforce data, workflows, business rules, and permissions.
This integration has already yielded results, with 37 prebuilt sales skills available through the first Salesforce-in-Claude plugin. The trend is not limited to Salesforce, as other software companies such as CrowdStrike, Okta, Workday, ServiceNow, and Adobe are also seeing growth driven by AI.
While there are still concerns that a fresh rise in long-term yields could challenge the move, recent earnings suggest that the next leg of the market does not have to come from chips alone. The companies that own enterprise data, permissions, security, and workflows are beginning to show that AI can increase the value of their platforms rather than simply replace them.
