Google Pixel 11 Pro's HiLight LED Gains Custom Message Trigger
The Google Pixel 11 Pro has a feature called HiLight, which is a notification LED located within the camera island. It prompts users when there's an important notification, such as a call from a specific contact or a 'Hey Google' command. The upcoming Android 17 Quarterly Platform Release 2 (QPR2) update will allow users to add messages to the list of triggers for the HiLight LED.
Currently available only for users enrolled in the Android Beta for Pixel program, this feature will officially launch in December for everyone to use outside of beta. Once updated, users can go to Settings, System, and turn on the HiLight feature. They will then see an option for Messages from favorites alongside Speaking with Gemini and Calls from favorites.
Users can select a contact they want to set up a HiLight notification for by tapping the star in the top-right of their Contacts list. This allows them to assign a custom glow color when the contact calls or sends a message. The feature is available across Google Pixel 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, and 11 Pro Fold, but not on the base-level Pixel 11.
