Google Pixel Tag Enters Market with Unique Design and UWB Technology
Google has finally entered the tracking market with its first-party Find Hub tracker, the Pixel Tag. Scheduled to drop in November, this UWB-equipped device leverages nearby Android devices to help users locate lost items. One of the standout features of the Pixel Tag is its unique shape and size, which sets it apart from other trackers like Apple's AirTag.
The Pixel Tag requires accessories for mounting, similar to Apple's AirTag, but unlike some competitors, such as the Moto Tag, it won't be compatible with existing AirTag accessories. Google will need to partner with companies to build an ecosystem of accessories specifically designed for its tracker.
Available in November at $29 per single unit or $99 for a 4-pack, the Pixel Tag has both advantages and disadvantages. Its small size could make it ideal for hiding in tiny compartments, but its lack of rechargeable batteries might be a drawback for some users.
