Google Pixel Watch 5 Puts AI at Its Core with Gemini Assistant
The Google Pixel Watch 5 is a significant upgrade to its predecessor, putting AI at the center of everything it does. Powered by a faster processor and the Gemini assistant, the watch offers proactive features such as surfacing flight details on the way to the airport or suggesting phone numbers while texting about dinner plans.
The Pixel Watch 5 starts at $399 for the smaller 41mm model with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, while the 45mm model starts at $429. Adding LTE connectivity raises the price by $100. The watch comes in various colors and includes an Active Band made of hydrogenated nitrile-butadiene rubber in both small and large sizes.
The Pixel Watch 5 has a curved display with up to 3,000 nits of brightness that adjusts based on ambient light. It also features a new AI-powered Health Coach offering tailored workout feedback. The watch's design is mostly unchanged from last year, but the price has risen to $399, putting it in line with the Apple Watch Series 11.
The Pixel Watch 5 outperforms its competitors, including the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9, which starts at $379.99. It also features satellite messaging and GPS upgrades, allowing for more accurate tracking of outdoor workouts. However, battery life remains unchanged from last year, with a maximum of 56.5 hours on a charge.
