Google Play services adds NFC and improved registration to Find Hub tags
Google is introducing two new features to its Find Hub network through the latest version of Google Play services. The updates, found in version 26.39, focus on enhancing security and privacy.
The first new capability is the addition of NFC support for Find Hub tags. This allows users to quickly access tag details and settings or identify lost tags by simply tapping the tag with their phone. Currently, identifying lost tags requires placing them in identification mode, which varies by product. While NFC is not yet common on Find Hub trackers, this update suggests that such devices may soon become available.
The second update improves the registration flow for Find Hub tags. Users can now set categories, rename tags, and configure features like Left-Behind Reminders during the initial setup process. Previously, these settings had to be adjusted manually in the Find Hub app after registration.
These enhancements aim to streamline the user experience and provide more convenient ways to manage Find Hub tags.
