Google Play Store Gets Personal: New Section for AI-Generated Apps

Google is working on a new feature that will allow users to manage and organize their AI-generated apps directly within the Google Play Store. The 'Your creations' section, currently in development, will be accessible through the 'Manage apps & device' menu.

This move aims to simplify the process of creating and sharing custom tools using Google's AI Studio platform. Currently, creators have to choose between manually sideloading raw code files or going through the formal developer registration process on the Google Play Console.

The dedicated Play Store dashboard will provide a clean interface for users to track and launch their creations without needing formal developer tools. However, it remains unclear how Google will address security and quality control of user-made creations, potentially introducing new challenges in balancing open sharing with protection against malicious or broken code.
