Google Pledges $10 Million for Stormwater Filtration Near Data Centers
Google has pledged $10 million to support stormwater filtration systems near its data centers. The funds will be allocated to Frog Creek Partners, a Wyoming-based environmental technology company, which will build filtration systems along the Chesapeake Bay watershed and Roanoke River.
The remaining $5.6 million will be used in other areas where Google's data centers are currently operating or planned, according to Suzie Shin, Google's manager of data center sustainability programs.
Shin stated that Google needs to understand the communities' priorities before deciding on specific locations for the infrastructure.
