Google Pledges EUR13 Billion to Finnish Data Centres and Clean Energy
Google has pledged EUR13 billion in investment for digital infrastructure and clean energy projects across Finland over the next two years. The company aims to build three new data centres, expand an existing one, and meet growing demand for services like Search, Maps, and AI model Gemini.
The largest individual investment in Europe will contribute EUR3.6 billion to Finland's annual GDP by 2027-2028 and support over 37,000 jobs during that period. The facilities are expected to create thousands of permanent positions once operational.
As part of the deal, Google will purchase half of the energy produced by the Loviisa nuclear power plant for 22 years and invest in new offshore wind capacity and a battery system to stabilize prices.
