Google Raises the Bar on Recycled Materials in Consumer Electronics

Google has made significant strides in incorporating recycled materials into its consumer electronics. The company's Pixel 10a smartphone, launched in March, boasts 36% recycled content by weight, surpassing Apple's latest iPhone models.

This achievement is the culmination of a decade-long collaboration between Google's environmental sustainability, product design, materials engineering, and supply chain teams.

Google aims to incorporate recycled content into all new consumer electronics. By 2025, 48% of plastic used in its smartphones, watches, home automation devices, speakers, and other gadgets will come from recycled sources.

Tameron Stuber, product sustainability strategy lead for the Pixel portfolio at Google, noted that replacing virgin content with recycled material reduces individual products' carbon footprint and addresses supply chain environmental and social risks.
