Google Replaces Gems with Skills in Gemini Chat Platform

Google has introduced a new feature called 'skills' to replace its 'Gems' feature. Skills allow users to automate repetitive tasks and create custom workflows within the Gemini chat platform.

The company plans to transition some of the Gems features to skills, but this process will take time. Users have until November 2026 for personal Google Accounts and March 2027 for Workspace users to make the switch.

Skills can be used to automate tasks such as building custom presentations, drafting documents in a specific tone and voice, or brainstorming ideas by providing multiple perspectives on a topic.
