Google Revives AI Momentum with New Models, Antitrust Wins
Google has begun September on a positive note after experiencing its longest monthly losing streak in over a decade. The tech giant recently launched Gemini 3.8 Flash, its third Flash model in six weeks, alongside a new cybersecurity model designed for trusted government and enterprise customers.
The company's AI momentum is gaining traction with the launch of these new models, which are expected to improve performance in coding, agentic tasks, and reasoning. Google has also introduced pay-as-you-go pricing for Gemini Enterprise, offering token discounts of up to 20%, monthly caps on agent spending, and a zero-dollar base subscription option.
Berkshire Hathaway CEO Greg Abel expressed confidence in Alphabet's AI position, stating that the company is a significant player in the space. The ad business continues to thrive, growing 14% in the latest quarter. A federal judge also ruled against breaking up Google's AdX exchange, opting for behavioral remedies instead.
However, not everyone is convinced of Google's chances in the AI market. Analyst Gil Luria said that while Gemini 3.8 Flash keeps Google in the race, it may not change its position as a distant third in the enterprise market.
