Google Rolls Out Global Generative AI Performance Reports and Controls

Google has rolled out its generative AI performance reports and Search generative AI controls to all websites worldwide, effective August 31, 2023. This move follows a slow rollout that began in June and expanded access to the features over the past few months.

The generative AI performance report can be found as an expandable tab under the main performance report in Google Search Console. The report includes data on impressions, pages, countries, devices, and dates, but does not include click data or query data.

Site owners can also use a toggle to block their content from appearing in AI features such as AI Overviews, AI Mode, or AI Overviews in Discover. This feature allows site owners to opt out of their content being used in AI features, either as links or for grounding.
